Emy Thiran

Emy Thiran is an artist, art writer, designer and educator based in Kuala Lumpur.  She received her BFA from the University of Bridgeport, (USA) and later her Phd in Art History from University Sains Malaysia. She has taught design and visual art studies in numerous art colleges such as Limkokwing UC and UTAR while freelancing as a graphic designer. She taught art history as a Senior Lecturer at University Malaya. She is the author of Living Art: The Inspired Lives of 14 Malaysian Artists & their Art Practice (2020). Her current work comprise of fun and colourful abstract paintings that are based on happy recollections growing up in Penang, musings on family life, inspired largely by nature, and driven by a desire to live with gratitude.
